Full House for the POLYGRAPH Symposium 2022

Once again, the third symposium held by the POLYGRAPH Leipzig e. V. Association and SID Leipzig was a success.

To mark its annual general meeting, POLYGRAPH Leipzig e. V., the supporting association of the Sächsisches Institut für die Druckindustrie (SID) and PITSID Polygraphische innovative Technik Leipzig GmbH, issued an invitation to its third trade symposium. Numerous visitors accepted the offer and arrived on time at SID on 18 November 2022. The fully booked tour of the institute soon began.

Following a light lunch, Dr.-Ing. Thomas Kaulitz, Managing Director of SID and PITSID, welcomed the guests and briefly reviewed the year 2022. He also took the opportunity to present "NIP CON SMART compact", the latest product development from SID and PITSID.

This was followed by four technical presentations. Dr. Frank Siegel, from the Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e. V. (STFI) in Chemnitz, kicked things off with his presentation on "Functional Printing on Textiles," in which he also introduced the STFI itself.

Wolfgang Hiesinger from manroland Goss Group then presented on the inline production of paperboard packaging for food products with electron beam curing, as well as the VARIOMAN, manroland's web offset solution for packaging printing. Compared to a 3B sheetfed offset press, VARIOMAN exhibits advantages in the range of variable printing lengths, job changeover, productivity, as well as inventory management.

Unfortunately, Henry Pohling from Giesecke+Devrient GmbH was not able to give his presentation in person at the symposium. But fittingly, he was able to present remotely about "Home Office, Mobile Work, Telecommuting - What Now?", which dealt with the relevant terminology and the details of these still rather new working forms in terms of labour laws.

And finally, Titus Tauro from the Sächsisches Institut für die Druckindustrie gave insights into his area of expertise with "Environmental Management - SID as Your Competent Partner" and explained some of the terms and concepts that are central to this field.

After a short coffee break, the members of the POLYGRAPH Leipzig e. V. Association met for their annual general meeting.

Our thanks go to all attendees whose participation made the whole event a complete success.
